Christmas Party

Soon in room 23 we will be celebrating the last days of school with a Christmas party the whole class has been organizing it there are different people for different duty's the duty's that we have are Decorations food drinks Christmas tree food making items fruit meats secret Santa's and many more stuff the Christmas party will be held on Tuesday next week.

ATHLETICS!!!!

Just resently i have been doing athletics training we have been doing the training for quite a long time now all of the people involved in Pukekohe intermediate had a choice to got to the athletics or stay at school and contribute in the school athletics here at puke i went to the outsider school athletics we done many thing but unfortunately i didn't win anything haha lol

High School

Just resenly room 23 and room 30 have been to Pukekohe highschool to try out sience we did many things there including Bangs Colors and many more things it was really fun to learn more things and create colors and learn about amazing things!!!!

Just recently we have been doing cross country I am in the senior boys athletics team we have there are so many things i have done such as high-jump,shot-put any many more things thisis only

(Kansai Airport)
Just before term 4 i went to japan with the school there were only certain people that got picked. we were in japan for sixteen days and the plane ride was twelve hours long but definitely worth it we first landed in Kansai airport it was honestly huge we then traveled through a train inside the airport to get around the huge building we then traveled around the airport until we got to the customs they were checking our passports and stuff we then went through to the next part of the airport and we were free to go we exited the airport and put all our stuff on a bus and traveled to a train station where the train took us out of the airport and took us to another train station where we hoped on to a bullet train it was super fast but it didn't feel like it. we have finally reached Hiroshima after all that traveling we put all our stuff into the hotel lobby and went to the children s peace park it was fun but so sad there we saw the atomic bomb dome. there were so many things i visited in japan and places i saw. We stayed in the hotel and had the best dinner in the world We had okonomeyaki. We then rested in the hotel for the night. the next day we woke up to an early breakfast there were so many things to eat and very traditional food as well there were things that come from over the whole world to eat to. we are now leaving to the boat today we are going to a small island with many deer and monkeys before we leave we go to the store to get food and lots of drink we all get big bottles of water we then reach the ferri we sit down and munch on some squid it is sweet and tastes weird we are now ready to enter the ferri it has a small cabin filled with seats to sit in it goes quite fast and in a second we are at the island. we see dear and many things we are climbing the mountain for ages for a small island it is really tall we reach the top and hear Nicole scream she saw a monkey right behind her she started to run off well everyone took pictures.

Financial literacy

This term room 23 have been doing something called Financial literacy we have been learning how too use our money in the future we have been on different websites learning about it. The whole class have been given a job i am a nurse we all get a pay each week your pay depends on the job that you have. my pay each week is $747 dollars we can get extra money if we help the teacher with stuff or we can lose money if we do something bad or call out the money that we have have got an apple logo on them and it has room 23 on each side.

Senselang

Today Friday 20th august is when we did our senselang typing test. My score was (Words per minute) 10 (Number of typed letters) 35 (Number of mistakes) 15 (Success percentage) 57%

News Paper

Room 23 and some other classrooms around Pukekohe intermediate school are doing a newspaper competition, this is when you create your own newspaper and publish it to a special website where it will be placed in the competition and you could be placed 1st 2nd 3rd

Maori language week

26th of July is Maori language week this is when we are celebrating Maori language our school has been having quizzes on Pintv and all the news stories have been said in Maori. After Pintv we have another broadcast and this is where we have to do quizzes through our class and out in the whole school. from now on every Tuesday each week we do a broadcast called te reo

Three-way student lead Conferences

Tuesday 26th of July i had my 3 way student lead conference with my parents and teacher a student lead is when your family comes to your school and you and your parents have a talk about your work in and out of school times you are then allowed to take your work home to show your parents.

PINTV

Pukekohe intermediate school have started doing live broadcasting for our own school news each day at 9.00am the live broadcasting starts we have different people each day, 2 People will read out the Morning notices and one Year 7 will read the Maori pronunciation for the daily Maori Word Quiz. then after the live broadcast the next broadcast will come on and this broadcast is where our the whole school has a daily quiz this is for celebrating Maori language week

Maggie

There has been a school cook off and 3 people from our school are going to the cook off you have to vote on the maggie site or Erin Simpson show.

The new Teacher Mrs Morris

The past few weeks we have had in our class a student teacher the students teacher's name is Mrs Morris the hole class have been doing science experiments with her we have done blowing up bloons with hot water lemon juice and baking soda and making card board to stop water coming out from a container and all of that was so fun when she go's i will miss her.

She helped me finish my science board when it was due in as well.
Mrs Morris is in her third year of training she just come from A.U.T she helps us all in class time and we wish her good luck Mrs Morris will be teaching Y8's and Y7's when she leaves room 23

The new house's

Only yesterday room 23 were walking in to assembly and it was all different they had flags all in a row and then there where chairs all where we had to sit in our house groups then we all went of in to different classes and we got to choose out of tackle touch rugby or net ball. I'm in Hillary i think it's the best.

Room23 / digital classroom

Room 23 is a digital classroom and it is composite so when Y8's have to go to assembly the Y7's sometimes come too. room 23 is basically joined with room 30 who are a composite class as well as room 23 some times room 30 come's here and sometimes we go there the Y8's are basically classes with there Y8's and the same with the Y7's.

Japan

Each week is getting longer and longer i cant wait to i see my student Shou when im in japan i want to buy a new phone or i pod i cant wait until i see the culture over there

My project

We have been working on our projects for 1 week all the other classrooms got 2 weeks so we had to work really hard Mrs Pearson said we had to have them in 1 week early but its really good cause if you want to change your board you have lots of time to change it i did my sience project on lemon power and how it can power things and it worked i powered a LED light for over 3 hours and 30 minutes.it all works with copper and zinc you need copper wire and copper coins (10c coin) you need zinc nails and you have to make it like a battery one side has the zinc nail and the other side has the copper 10c coin when you join the wires to each lemon (need four lemons to power LED)
this works because the led is a low voltage light bulb and can run up to days with the right stuff and lemons. our other teacher Mrs Morris and she helped me with the board cause i ended up handing mine in late but i got it finished.

Why have I got homework when I have been working at school for nearly 6 hours a day for 5 days a week isn't that’s insane?


Why should any young kids get home work any way? Where’s the time to be a kid before it gets dark. Some kids like homework but I bet most kids don’t I think some homework like spelling and reading a book each night for 20 minutes is ok but not math’s, reading logs, unfinished work and the homework we get every week most likely the worst off all home work. I think you should be able to choose if you want to do speech and science fair any way I guess that its for improving confidence in speech and talking in big crowds. But do you want to do home work for 5 days a week.


Adults may think that kids should have homework but when the go to work they most likely complain as well as us kids. Go to work have a bad day go to check out just about to walk out the door nearly about TO RELAX then STOP why did I just get told to do paper work When I have been working at work for nearly 8 or 9 hours for five days a week (I can wait for that!!) Where’s the time to watch my kid play out side oh wait he's got home work but where’s the time for family time or my TV channel or cooking dinner probably none of that only for some who are stay at home mums. Do parents want paper work?


I think a normal every week home work i think it is not necessary but science fair and speech is ok because it is to help you but i still think you should be able to decide if you want to do it or not Its for confidence and that what im trying to improve on. But kids are getting pushed to do stuff and getting stressed when your in the car or bus oh no I forgot my home work you start to stress. I don't want grey hair and wrinkles .Do you agree?

I think that if kids don't have work they wont be stressed at home and have a more positive attitude at school and class time you no if I had any more home work I would probably explode I have spelling reading math’s science fair AND SPEECH not to mention chores AND THATS WHY I THINK HOME WORK SHOULD BE OUTTA HERE

Mrs Pearsons showed us a new site where you can make a collage by mixing photos its called shape collage here is my photos.

Yesterday I did my speech i was very nervous and stumbled a bit but its better to get it over and done with.

Me project

This is my me project it is the shape of a cell phone it can open and close. All of the people in room 23 have all done a me project and shared it in front of the class. We had 4 weeks to complete this task i think it was fun.Most people have there project as the shape or the thing that they love

Room 23 have all been doing book bags each book bag must have at least 5 items to relate to the story my storys name is storm breaker from the Alex Rider series there a a lot of story's in the class room we alould to veiw them. we had only one week to complete them.

Mathletics

Every week on mathletics room 23 gets points if you get over the bar you get a certificate.

Hara Mura Students

This week three people in our class had Japanese students I was one of these students including Shannon and Sian. My new friends name is shou. This tuesday we went to kely toutions and sore the sting rays and the sharks with our Japanese students then we went to the sky tower when we went in the tower we got a special tour in to a room that is not open to public the room is the safty room it has no windows and only has concrete and steel people only go in there when there is a fire on an emergency. Then we went to the Victorian markets where we had lunch and our new friends brought some New Zealand gifts to take back to his family. Then the last stop we went to the Auckland museum we walked in to look at the Maori culture exhibit.

Sense-Lang typing

Most afternoons room 23 do a typing test called sense-lang typing. We also do Dance mat typing.

Mathletics for maths

Room 23 have been using Mathletics for maths. Mathletics is a site where you can improve on your math skills and where you can challenge your maths skills to the world.
On Mathletics you can go through levels. I have unlocked two bronze cafe awards you can also unlock gold bars there are all 92 too collect but I only have 3. There are a lot of activity's and fun.
Every time we have maths we must spend ten minutes in live you are versing people from around the world.

Typing test

Monday 8th week 2 .Today in the computer class room we have just made the blogger and a gmail we have set up our apple accounts and we have done a touch typing test.
